What is a Pilates Reformer
A Pilates Reformer is an exercise machine with a moving carriage attached to a set of springs. You train lying down, seated or half-seated. The springs either assist the movement or add resistance — your instructor adjusts them to your current fitness. The Reformer is a low-impact workout with no stress on the joints, suitable for beginners and advanced clients alike. It primarily strengthens the deep stabilising muscles of the core and improves posture.
Three types of Pilates Reformer classes at Flexity Studio
Healthy Reformer
A gentler, more therapeutic format at a slower pace. Focus on breathing, deep-muscle activation and movement control. Ideal for complete beginners, clients 50+, people with back pain or in recovery. Our recommended entry point to the Reformer.
Classical Pilates Reformer
The classical method of Joseph Pilates — the full sequence of exercises in its precise order. Moderate pace with an emphasis on technique and coordination. A good fit once you have a few Healthy classes behind you and know your way around the machine.
Reformer Strength & Tone
A more intense format with heavier spring loads. Strength, tone and a cardiovascular element. For advanced clients who want a real strength challenge and visible body shaping.
Private and duo lessons
A one-on-one lesson with an instructor (€47 per hour) or a duo lesson for two (€32 per person). Ideal for complete beginners, clients with a specific health concern, or couples. The lesson is fully tailored to your goals and pace.
Who Pilates Reformer in Bratislava is for
Complete beginners
The Reformer is low-impact and fully adjustable. The springs assist you exactly where mat work would leave you struggling. Start with Healthy Reformer, or with one or two private lessons to learn the technique at your own pace.
Clients 50+ and seniors
After fifty, the body loses muscle mass at a rate of 0.5–1% a year (sarcopenia). The Reformer — strength training without impact — is one of the best preventive tools there is.
Postpartum women (8+ weeks)
After giving birth, the body responds well to gentle strengthening of the pelvic floor, glutes and deep stabilisers. The Reformer, a supported platform that helps a weakened core, is an ideal way back in. Please mention diastasis when booking — your instructor will adapt the exercises.
Desk workers with back pain
Years at a computer bring stiff shoulders and a weak core. Reformer exercises open the chest, mobilise the shoulder blades and activate the deep spinal stabilisers. With two classes a week, most people feel the first difference within 4–6 weeks.
Advanced clients and athletes
Reformer Strength & Tone brings micropulses, isometric holds and heavy spring resistance. An excellent complement to regular strength training — it builds stability, mobility and injury resilience.
What your first class in Bratislava looks like
What the Pilates Reformer actually does for you
- Strengthens the deep stabilising muscles of the core — better posture, less back pain, more energy in everyday life
- Gentle on the joints — exercising lying down or seated unloads the knees and hips; suitable with arthritis and after injuries
- Slows sarcopenia — the progressive spring resistance counters age-related muscle loss after forty
- Improves balance and helps prevent falls — standing exercises at the footbar train the stabilisers of the ankle, knee and hip
- Targets lower back pain — with two classes a week, most clients report a noticeable improvement within 4–6 weeks
- Reduces stress and improves sleep — mindful movement and breathwork lower cortisol

Frequently asked questions about Pilates Reformer in Bratislava
How much does a Pilates Reformer class in Bratislava cost?
A drop-in group class at Flexity Studio costs €19. New clients can start with an intro pack — 3 classes for €50, valid for 30 days. If you train regularly, credit packs work out cheaper — see the full price list.
Do I need to be fit to start on the Reformer?
No. The Reformer is particularly well suited to complete beginners, because the springs either assist the movement or add resistance to match your current fitness. We've started clients aged 25, 45 and 70. We recommend beginning with a Healthy Reformer class.
What's the difference between Pilates Reformer and Pilates Mat?
Pilates Mat is bodyweight-only exercise on a mat. The Reformer adds a spring-loaded machine that can make each movement easier or harder. For beginners the Reformer is considerably more forgiving — the springs help exactly where mat work would leave you struggling.
I have back pain. Is the Pilates Reformer for me?
In most cases yes — the Reformer strengthens precisely the deep stabilisers of the spine, and does so without compression. When booking, tell us where it hurts and what brings it on. The instructor will adapt the class and avoid positions that could aggravate it. With acute pain, see a doctor first.
I'm pregnant. Can I train on the Reformer?
In the first trimester, with a healthy pregnancy and your gynaecologist's approval, yes. The second and third trimesters call for modifications — we recommend a private lesson, where the instructor fully adapts every exercise.
How often should I train to see results?
For lasting improvement we recommend two classes a week. One class a week maintains what you have; two bring measurable change — usually visible within 4–6 weeks (better posture, less back pain). For more intensive body shaping, three classes a week.
Do you accept the MultiSport card for the Reformer?
The MultiSport card is valid for Pilates Mat and Barre classes in our Barre studio. We don't accept it for the Reformer — the economics of a 5-person group don't allow it.
Do you offer corporate voucher packages for employees?
Yes — corporate packs of 10, 30 and 100 entries. HR places the order and receives voucher codes; employees book their own classes via Flexio. A tax-deductible benefit, VAT invoice included.
